THE ANCIENT ART OF DAD YIN
Author: Pier Tsui·Po
YOU may have heard of tai chi or qi qong. As a health exercise, this one tops them both. It's called dao yin Yang Sheng Gong.
Now available in Australia, it is a new martial art exercise program that is very diffeJent from every other art. It has never been taught before and already the demand for classes has been overwhelming. A major Melbourne hospital has already contracted for the implementation of dao yin to their patients. This is going to be the art of the future.
What is Dao Yin?
Many sources say that the ancient form of dao yin is the foundation of many types of Chinese martial arts and calisthenics. It originated over 3000 years ago and was used to ward off illnesses caused by climate and environment such as wind, cold and damp.
Its main purpose was to cure and prevent illness and improve health. The exercises consisted of movements learned by watching animals. When the techniques were practised, they expelled the "bad Qi" and rebalanced the system.
The old techniques have been revised and updated to create the new dao yin. Much of this work is attributed to Professor Shang of China. In 1976 he started this research after falling ill with terminal disease. He applied his work to his illness with amazing success. He was completely cured of all illnesses and now devotes much of his time to the continued research and development of dao yin.
I remember when I was a child at kung fu training, the preparatory exercises (some people call it warm up) for the more rigorous part of training were the ancient dao yin exercises. Not many of us took notice of its healing properties. We just wanted to get on with kung fu. Our teachers used to say that we needed dao yin to protect ourselves and not get hurt. We said that's what the kung fu is for. Well ... I've discovered 31 years later that what they really meant was that the Dao Yin is to prevent us from getting
How does it work?
The principles of modern dao yin by Professor Zhang are based on the concepts of Chinese medicine, western medicine, tai chi and qi qong. This system has been honoured by the Chinese people as a "life saving exercise".
Dao yin combines all the beneficial aspects of meditation, breathing, tai chi, qi qong and Chinese medicine. There are many different sets of exercises.
Each set of exercise specifically deals with one of the systems of the body such as the heart, lungs, liver, digestive and the musculo-skeletal system. It works by encouraging the cultivation of smooth flow of qi (chi), throughout the body and to specific parts of the body while also improving the quality of qi in the body.
It assists in resolving and preventing health problems such as stress, fatigue, arthritis, anxiety, digestive disorders, heart and lung conditions.
The exercises are easy to learn and practise and they are graceful and relaxing.
Dao yin increases physical flexibility, strength, mental relaxation, concentration and alertness. It helps you to regain your power which is very much lost during illness or injury.
Proven results and recent achievements
Dao yin has been applied to clinical use in China with an astounding success rate of 90 per cent.
It has been recognised, approved and praised several times by scholars and experts in the fields of medicine, physiology and physical education both in China and abroad.
The exercises to "Prevent and Cure Heart and Blood Diseases" won first prize in the Scientific Research Conference of major institutes of physical education in China, Germany and Japan. It was also listed as "The National Significant Achievement in Science and Technology".
In the 11th Asian Games Scientific Congress, the exercises to "Prevent and Cure Difficult and Complicated Disellses" was selected as the "Excellent Paper".

Many people of all ages have recovered from illness and acquired new life or have become healthier and prevented illness by practising dao yin.
Dao yin will benefit you by providing you with the much needed balance of yin-yang so you can improve your health, prevent illness and injury.
